Sylvan Heights Selects First General Curator of Waterfowl Park & Eco-Center

Brad HazeltonBrad Hazelton became the General Curator of the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park & Eco-Center, on November 2, 2006. He was previously the Curator of Birds at the Fort Worth Zoo, a position he held since 1997.

The announcement from Sylvan Heights’ Executive Director Mike Lubbock represents a homecoming of sorts for Hazelton, who served for a year as the Curator of Birds at the breeding center in 1992. At the time, Brad viewed his time at Sylvan Heights as a major stepping stone for his career.

“My philosophy was that if I was going to be the best bird breeder in the world, I would have to learn from the best, which I heard from a colleague was Mike Lubbock,” recounted Hazelton. “I consider my decision to be the one of the best I ever made. The knowledge I gained from Mike’s experience gave me a huge head start in life and my career.”

Mike Lubbock said regarding the selection, "I'm very thankful to Brad for his willingness to move his family here from Texas to take the job of General Curator. He will reduce the workload on me tremendously."
